Pangil
Navidad de la Virgen Maria Parish
Although Pangil was listed as a mission in 1580, it remained dependent on Lumban for many years because of lack of personnel. The first church, of bamboo and thatch, was replaced by one of stone in 1611 under Fr. Gonzalo de la Roble. In 1711, the woodwork of the church was renovated and a new cupola built. The convento was also renovated at this time. From 1849-51, the whole complex was repaired and renovated by Fr. Luis de Nambroca.
Heritage Feature: Whatever remains of the old church has been incorporated into a newer structure. |
